Friends Of Highfield Newsletter - Sept 2008

Welcome back to a new year of not only raising money for our children's school, but for giving them (and us) extra fun events to join in.
Firstly, I must beg you to help us with any events that you can. There are only 4 of us Mums that actually organise the events that are held. We also only have around 15 Mums &-Dads that help with certain things & considering there are 250 children in the school, this is really not many. We are very happy to continue to organise events, but PLEASE, PLEASE if you can, help on any day, no matter what you do or for how long, you don't realise how much it helps us. Mrs Collins (secretary) has a communication book in the office, if you need to leave a message or YOUR NUMBER. Thanks.

I have been asked by a few staff if there is any chance that we could sell tea coffee etc. on Wednesdays at the Football & Netball matches. Also at the class assemblies, if possible. It only requires 1- 2 people from each class to do this so if you can help please let me or Mrs Collins know.

Anyway, enough begging, lets get to the important stuff. I have had a meeting with Mrs Ellis and for this year she would very much like us to be able to buy a Laptop Storage Unit (including laptops). This will benefit the children by enabling half of a class to do I.T. in their classroom and the other half to be in the computer suite, obviously, giving the whole class longer on the computers. This Unit costs £8,400. At the moment we have about £5,000 in the bank which is a good amount. Hopefully, if we are successful this year we should be able to pay for the unit in full and still have some left over for next years request. We'll see

The A.G.M. this year will be held on Thurs 25th September, in the school hall at 2:45pm (Change from calendar), if you can come along, please do.

Next Friday 26th September is National Coffee Morning in aid of Cancer Care. We have ordered a bouncy castle for the children to do a sponsored bounce. The money raised will go to the Michael Sobell Hospice, Northwood. Last year we raised about £250. There will be tea coffee served In the playground from 9 - 10am, for family and friends to come and watch some of the children do their bounce and to have a chat. Please join in this, the children love it. All children join in this event, unless you inform your class teacher. Please bring all money collected In to school on the day.

Thanks

Angie
